Our Journey

A transformative quest

Founder David Collins went on a quest starting in 1986 following an important climb up Kilimanjaro. There, Collins came to see that while we are all seeking to live a life of meaning and purpose – it can be hard to figure out how to do it.

From banking to career services

After leaving JP Morgan investment banking, Collins set out to create an integrated career services organization that could truly help people better understand their complexity and be matched to well-fitting roles in organizations so that both the person and the company were better off. He took over 500 different career products, personality tools, aptitude tests, and discovery programs in an effort to discern why his advisors and educational focus hadn’t led him into a fulfilling career.

Key findings

His key finding was that while there were “career interest tests”, various personality tests, and skills tests, no real method for understanding a person’s range of motivations had been developed or factored into an equation such that people had a far better opportunity to connect their passions to the true mission of their work and services.

The harvard opportunity

Collins got the opportunity to base at Harvard and draw upon top minds and leaders there at Harvard, MIT, and in the community of social entrepreneurs flourishing in Cambridge, Mass. It was here, while reading Buckminster Fuller’s book, “Critical Path”, that Collins realized his true passion lay in becoming a People Architect.

Building expertise

After spending 6 ½ years developing key expertise and drawing together top experts surrounding the fields of testing, guidance, job placement, recruiting, leadership training, and outplacement, Collins left his Senior position with the largest personality testing company and formed the beginnings of an integrated Career company aimed at being the nation’s company for people in career transition.
